Winters in the Sevier Valley can be long. Mornings are cold, the sun sets early, and it is easy to spend most of the season indoors. Here are a few ways to stay warm, keep moving, and feel a little brighter until spring.
Get truly warm, not just less cold
Standing by a heater warms your front and leaves your back cold. An infrared sauna warms your body directly, so the heat reaches all of you. The room stays a comfortable 115 to 135°F, and after 25 minutes most people feel warm right through. It is a welcome change on a day when you cannot seem to shake the chill.
Bring back some color
Gray skies can make the whole season feel dull. Every sauna session includes chromotherapy, with 12 color settings you control. On a gray afternoon, many guests reach for a warm orange or yellow to bring a little sunshine back into the day.
Keep a routine
When the weather turns, it is easy to let good habits slide. Having a standing reason to leave the house helps. Some of our members come in right after work a few days a week, and some come every day. Our memberships include a visit every day we are open, which makes it easy to keep going all winter.
Take care of sore muscles
Shoveling snow, skiing, and simply bracing against the cold all add up. A 20-minute session in a zero gravity massage chair works your back, shoulders, arms, calves, and feet, with heat for the calves and feet.
Wind down in the evening
Long winter evenings are a great time to slow down. An evening sauna session followed by a quiet night at home is a routine many of our guests swear by, and many say they sleep especially well afterward.
Drink more water than you think
Cold, dry air pulls moisture from your body even when you are not sweating. Keep a water bottle nearby, and drink before and after every sauna session.
Give the gift of warmth
Winter birthdays and the holidays are coming. A Relax & Restore gift card is an easy way to give someone a warm, quiet break.
